Be kinder to yourself and then let your kindness flood the world
— Pema Chodron

Many of us struggle with depression, anxiety and a low sense of self worth and value.  Often this manifests as a general dissatisfaction with life and relationships.  We feel angry, misunderstood, alone and often blame ourselves and the world around us for our upset and pain.  We may feel that if only we had a better job, a better relationship, a better living situation etc things would be...well...better.  Unfortunately these things are solutions that only address external problems.

Although each person coming to counselling brings their unique challenges and issues, I believe that ultimately the way to healing and finding a sense of peace is to grow to accept who we are, the “good” and the “bad”.

This process can be challenging and scary as we look at things we’ve been taught to ignore or deny.  Many of us carry painful memories and experiences that still impact how we engage in our present lives and relationships.

I focus on creating a trusting, understanding space for my clients to share and explore what they experience as distressing or not working in their lives.  Together we look at how to shift learned patterns and behavior that often feel stuck or permanent.

I work with issues such as job related stress, depression, anxiety, grief and loss, trauma (both childhood and present day), addictions, life transitions and parenting.  I work with individuals, couples and groups.  I also offer Equine Facilitated Personal Development experiences (please see my Equine page for further information).
